"Ed"; a superb and way-out ensemble comedy series box sets featuring a really skilled team such as Tom Cavanugh, Julie Bowen, Josh Randall, Justin Long, Jana Marie Hupp, Lesley Boone among others and tactically written by Jon Beckerman and as well as Rob Burnett.
Briefly summarized, Ed Stevens, a NYC lawyer or attorney who actually loses his job, comes home to view his married woman sleeping together with a postman; he determines to return come backto his hometown of Stuckeyville, Ohio in a quixotic research for his personality, and the unrequited highschool fancy hethat is disregarded, the attractive Carol Vessey, at the moment a senior high school English tutor with her distinctive wanderlust together with uncertainness; Torn between her friendship along with Ed and his unyielding and funny courting and wooing of her, their association is the focal point of 83 memorable periods.
Ed acquires the closest bowling alley, where he creates his law business office, and rediscovers the gaiety and gladness of smalltown lifestyles with renewed, enjoyable friendships and relationships.
The cast of heroes - from his bowling alley workers to his relationships with his youth best friend, (now Dr.) Mike Burton, his wife Nancy, Carol and Molly Hudson (H.S. principal ), the neophyte HS student Warren Cheswick - (brilliantly and offensively pictured by Justin Long)and his quest of life , love and starve are dextrously interwoven in episodic gems, all with the key theme of Ed's pursuit of and friendship with Carol Vessey. There's a superb tale "arc" featuring the gorgeous Rena Sofer as ADA Bonnie Hanes who pursues Ed, much to the chagrin of a yet uncertain Carol, and we believe Carol's angst as she reveals her real feelings for Ed begin to surface.
Called by TV Guide's Matt Roush as "one of the best shows complete series you are not watching for each of its four seasons, each epsiode conveys the love and longing for the simpler values of life and love by every one of its figures.
I a short time ago attained a rather reasonable copy of the whole series box sets, and yet have been looking forward to the series' "official commercial" excellent release. I enjoyed the total run over the course of quite a few weeks. I noticed myself laughing out aloud, "tearing up" sentimentally, wincing at embarrasing moments, but being totally captivated repeatedly. It was so excellent to restore friendships with "the folks of Stuckeyville" and the cozy heros who who pass thru Stuckeybowl.
From launch to closing, ed dvd is a real joy and one to be loved. I recommend highly it tremendously and apologise for my wordy writing. Rent disc 1 when the dvd debuts in beginning of the 2007, and I guarantee the reader he or she will bring the over-all series to their drawers. (too bad the full series couldn't be released as one set - and logically priced; after all, those people who "get" the show, will aboslutely pay for the over-all set). Latecomers will likewise!
A belated regards to David Letterman, and his corporation for manufacturing a quality video show on series dvd.
